100. Do you know what happens in 100 years? ALOT. Just thinking about my 30 years and how much has changed, it is hard to fathom 100. It is seriously like a history book. Mammaw lived in most of the history I learned about in American history. I mean the USA is only 138 years older than Mammaw.
Wilson Administration, World War I, Women's Suffrage, Radio Broadcasting began, Coolidge President,
First Motion Pictures, Hoover president, Roaring 20's, Stock Market Crash, The Great Depression, Roosevelt President, Amelia Earhart flew her plane, Pearl Harbor, World War II, Truman, Atomic bombs, Korean War, Eisenhower President, The First McDonald's, Civil Rights, School Integration, Alaska and Hawaii became states, Kennedy elected, Johnson President, Race Riots, Nixon, US on the moon, Watergate, Ford President, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama president, 9/11, and that doesn't even touch entertainment, religion, population growth, fashion, industry, food... Can you imagine...100 years? This lady has seen a lot. What an awesome day to celebrate.
She had one son. That son had two daughters and a son. Those three grandkids had six great-grands. The six great-grands have 5 great-great grands. Her oldest great grand child will be 34 this year. Her oldest great-great grandchildren will be 4 in a few days. Some people don't get to have their grandparents around. My children have their great-great grandmother and are old enough to remember it. You know what is really crazy...she takes care of herself.
So, we had her a party. Not a theme party even though there were 10 decades to pick from. Her choice was the 30's. The Depression. The decade in which her child was born. The big party got vetoed and we went to Costa's Mediterranean. Nothing says 100 like pasta, bread, and salad.
